Biography
West Coast-born singer-songwriter Daniel Nickels has been captivating audiences in Oregon and beyond since 2016 with his unique blend of rockin’ Americana—a sound infused with the storytelling of country and the grit of Southern rock. Drawing inspiration from Jason Isbell, John Mayer, Tom Petty, Zac Brown Band, and Brothers Osborne, Daniel has crafted a style that is both timeless and distinctly his own.
Daniel’s journey began around the campfire, where his father’s guitar first sparked his passion for music. He honed his craft under Dr. John Clark—the same mentor who guided Katy Perry—developing versatile musicianship that extends across guitar, piano, ukulele, and harmonica. His emotionally charged lyrics, paired with dynamic instrumentals, create music that resonates deeply with listeners.
Craft & Collaborations
Nickels’ dedication to his artistry led him to collaborate with Grammy-winning producer Dave Hagen at the renowned Dark Horse Recording Studios in Tennessee. Their work together on the 2023 EP Drive Us Home pushed Daniel’s sound into bold new territory, drawing comparisons to Zac Brown and Jason Isbell. His commanding vocals—ranging from soulful lows to soaring falsettos—paired with his band’s tight roots-rock interplay, deliver a live show that audiences remember.
